Applications are actually open for the 2026 MFWA’s Training Workshop on Critical Coverage of Africa-China Trade, Investment & Political Relations. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), in partnership with South Africa-based Wits Centre for Journalism(WCJ), invites purposes from journalists throughout Anglophone West Africa for a three-day capacity-building workshop on reporting critically on the a number of dimensions of Africa-China relations. Dubbed “Building Capacity to Cover a Complex Story – Africa and China relations”, the workshop is scheduled to happen in Accra, Ghana in the final quarter of 2026.
The workshop, funded by the University of Witwatersrand, subsequently goals at strengthening the capability of journalists to higher perceive Africa-China relations in an more and more multipolar international setting, and the implications of these developments for African communities and improvement. It will provide each material information and journalism methods in protecting tales pertaining to Africa-China relations.
Requirements
Applications are invited from journalists who:
- Are primarily based in an Anglophone West African nation (ie: Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and the Gambia).
- Work in print, radio, tv, or digital media.
- Report on areas reminiscent of politics, economic system, enterprise, commerce, improvement, setting, extractives, infrastructure, or worldwide affairs.
- Are out there in the final quarter of 2026 (September – October) and may safe a proper permission letter from their editor to take part absolutely in the coaching workshop in Accra.
- Can produce in-depth tales upon completion of the coaching.
