Applications are open for the New Commons Incubator for Indigenous Languages and Cultures 2026. The New Commons Incubator is a six-month capability-constructing program that helps Indigenous-led groups in growing an information commons, that are group ruled datasets that allow accountable, equitable use for public-curiosity functions.

Through mentorship, coaching, and peer studying, the Incubator helps individuals transfer from early-stage information commons concepts to clear, actionable, and fundable proposals.  

Benefits

Selected individuals will obtain capability constructing help to:

• Develop a fundable proposal for an information commons initiative
• Build a governance mannequin aligned with Indigenous information sovereignty
• Strengthen their method to making use of information and AI for public-curiosity functions and equitably distributing advantages
• Connect with a community of consultants, companions, and potential funders

Eligibility

This Incubator is meant for people/groups who determine as Indigenous, or are working in shut partnership with Indigenous communities. 

If you don’t determine as Indigenous, it’s best to be capable to reveal: 

• A transparent, trusted, and ongoing relationship with an Indigenous group
• Evidence of group consciousness, participation, or endorsement of the initiative
• A required letter of help that gives proof of each the connection and the group’s help for the initiative

Application
