The Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition 2026 for young people. – Opportunities For Africans

Applications at the moment are open for the 2026 Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition. Organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, the Commonwealth Secretariat and the City of London Youth Natural Environment Board, this competitors invites young folks from throughout the 56-nation Commonwealth household to share their imaginative and prescient by the lens.

This 12 months’s theme, Waves of Change, invites you to discover our oceans and waterways: their majesty, their vulnerability, and the communities whose lives rely upon them. We’re trying for photos that transfer folks. Images that inform tales phrases can’t.

​Requirements

• Open to all Commonwealth nationals and residents aged 18–30.

Categories

Submit one authentic {photograph} that responds to one of many 4 Categories:

1.  Human–Ocean Connection – Personal, cultural, or ancestral ties to the ocean, together with Indigenous Peoples and native communities’ traditions and information, in addition to conventional stewardship of blue carbon ecosystems reminiscent of mangroves, seagrasses, and tidal marshes.

2.  Hope & Resilience – Stories of safety, regeneration, or neighborhood motion, significantly from areas affected by sea stage rise, ocean acidification and warming, and efforts to construct a sustainable blue economic system.

3. Threats & Challenges – Personal or neighborhood experiences of marine degradation, overfishing, marine air pollution (together with plastics), and biodiversity loss, and the carbon emissions from transport that contribute to ocean warming and acidification, in addition to the destruction of blue carbon habitats.

4. Innovative Solutions – Community-driven or scientific efforts to guard the ocean, together with coral reef restoration, marine protected areas, the High Seas Treaty, and the Global Plastics Treaty.

How to Enter

This competitors is open to all young folks aged 18–30 who’re residents of or resident in, a Commonwealth nation. Whether you’re an skilled photographer or choosing up a digital camera for the primary time: your perspective issues.

• STEP 1: Check you’re eligible. You have to be aged 18–30 and a citizen of or resident in a Commonwealth nation on the time of submission.
