Applications are open for the LEAP Africa Youth Leadership Development Programme 2026. The Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP) is a 5-month programme that goals to assist younger Nigerian undergraduates develop a deeper understanding of their position in nation-constructing, main change by taking possession of their life’s objectives, and driving group improvement.

Participants of the YLDP will undergo self-paced programs developed on the programme’s three pillars: management, lively citizenship and group/sustainable improvement. Programme Details

The Youth Leadership Development Programme in partnership with MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation and Luminate includes two (2) programme tracks.

• Community Change Project Track: The Community Change Projects Track addresses the necessity to educate, strengthen, assist, and allow younger folks in tertiary establishments to implement change initiatives that advocate for and encourage motion for group and nationwide improvement.
• Youth Leadership Debate Competition/ Community Advocacy Track: The Youth Leadership Debate Competition/Community Advocacy Track gives a platform by inter-college debates to spark conversations that reawaken pupil activism on key coverage points that have an effect on Nigerian residents. Participating groups who make it to the ultimate rounds of the competitors can even be required to hold out advocacy-targeted group initiatives.

Eligibility

An very best YLDP participant is:

• A male or feminine undergraduate in a Nigerian tertiary establishment
• 18-35 years of age
• Person with Disability
• Passionate about group improvement, advocacy and activism
• Eager to champion change initiatives geared in direction of group improvement & the SDGs.
• Eager to lend voices to problems with nationwide discourse by debates
• The candidate is a member of a debating society or pupil youth group.

Application

This 12 months, the decision for functions:

• Encourage extra girls to apply by collaborating with girls targeted organisations to publish the decision
• Encourage extra functions from Eastern Nigeria
• Encourage candidates to apply individually whereas submitting a change undertaking proposal or signing as much as a proposal submitted by a candidate from their establishment.
• Ask candidates to apply with their course kinds and pupil ID as a way of identification and verification of their standing.
