ISME/IWA BioCluster Award 2026 – YOA

Nominations are open for the ISME/IWA BioCluster Award 2026. To recognise the significance and impression of interdisciplinary analysis on the interface of microbial ecology, water and wastewater therapy, and engineering sciences, the IWA/ISME BioCluster established the ISME/IWA BioCluster Award.

This award is a collaboration between the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME) and the International Water Association (IWA). These prestigious prizes honour internationally recognised analysis of outstanding benefit on this discipline. The award is introduced each two years.

Award

• The winners will obtain a trophy and certificates and will probably be invited to the IWA and ISME Congresses. The winner may also obtain interviews for communications (e.g. the IWA journal The Source and/or IWA web site).

Eligibility

• All IWA and/or ISME members are entitled to appoint candidates.
• Candidates will be senior leaders within the discipline, however can be younger rising stars.
• Nominated candidates should be members of both IWA or ISME (or each). 

Selection Criteria

The following standards will probably be used to pick out the winners:

• Promotion of interdisciplinary analysis
• Breakthrough analysis
• Application potential within the water sector
