The taz Panter Foundation Journalism Training Programme 2026 for African journalists (Fully Funded to Berlin, Germany and Brussels, Belgium)

Applications are actually open for the 2026 taz Panter Foundation Journalism Training Programme. The Panter Foundation of the unbiased German each day newspaper taz in Berlin invites 16 African journalists (print/TV/radio/on-line) to take part within the workshop „Global Powers, Local Realities – Africa’s Future Amid Global Power Plays and the Fight for Self-Rule.“

The program begins in April 2026 with a five-month hybrid part that includes joint Zoom seminars, adopted by a 12-day in-person part in Berlin and Brussels in September 2026. During the workshop, members will collaboratively develop a bilingual (German and English) print journal in addition to a four-part podcast sequence.

Requirements

• Journalists from the next 16 international locations are invited to apply: Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
• Fluent English is a prerequisite to guarantee efficient communication amongst members and with audio system in Germany and Belgium. All seminars will likely be performed in English. 
• Applications from ladies journalists are strongly inspired.

Benefits

• All journey bills for the stays in Berlin and Brussels will likely be absolutely coated. Participants can even obtain an honorarium for their contributions to the journal and the podcast.

• Weblinks to three work samples
• A brief CV (max. 2,000 characters)
• A letter of motivation (max. 2,000 characters)
• Two journalistic references (for instance, editors-in-chief)
• For members from non-Anglophone international locations: a short clarification of your English proficiency and the way it was acquired (max. 500 characters)
