Applications are actually open for the 2026 Digital Rights Litigation Surgery (DRLS) Program. The Digicivic Initiative invites purposes for the Digital Rights Litigation Surgery (DRLS), an expert improvement and capacity-building programme designed to strengthen authorized responses to digital rights violations in Nigeria.

The Digital Rights Litigation Surgery is a practice-oriented programme that equips attorneys with the authorized, strategic, and advocacy expertise required to advance digital rights litigation, civic area safety, freedom of expression, knowledge safety, and technology-related human rights. Through hands-on studying, case evaluation, and post-training engagement, the programme seeks to construct a pool of attorneys dedicated to public-interest and professional bono digital rights work.

Primary Purpose:

  • To strengthen the capability of attorneys to interact in strategic digital rights litigation and authorized advocacy in Nigeria.
  • To construct sensible expertise in dealing with instances associated to freedom of expression, civic area, knowledge safety, and technology-enabled rights violations.
  • To increase a community of professional bono attorneys supporting digital rights safety and public-interest lawyering.

Geographic Focus: Nigeria

Target Audience: The programme is open to authorized practitioners with an curiosity in digital rights, public-interest litigation, expertise legislation, or civic area safety.

Qualifications

Applicants have to be certified authorized practitioners known as to the Nigerian Bar.

  • Demonstrated curiosity or expertise in digital rights, human rights, expertise legislation, media legislation, knowledge safety, or public-interest litigation.
  • Strong dedication to professional bono authorized work and collaborative engagement with civil society and affected communities.

Participants’ Responsibilities

  • Participants will likely be anticipated to actively interact in coaching periods, case-based discussions, and assigned studying actions.
  • Participants will commit time to post-training professional bono digital rights litigation or authorized help, in collaboration with Digicivic Initiative.
  • Senior attorneys could also be required to supply mentorship, strategic steering, or supervision help to early-stage individuals.
