About the Opportunity

The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing (MVICW) is providing a spread of fellowship alternatives for writers to attend its 2026 Summer Writers’ Conference. With over 17 years of fostering creativity, group, and craft, MVICW offers a deeply supportive surroundings for writers in any respect levels to reconnect with their follow, construct confidence, and develop highly effective new work.

Rooted within the values of compassion over competitors and artistic help over hierarchy, MVICW’s convention combines craft lessons, generative workshops, and community-building in a nurturing setting designed to assist writers silence their inside critic and maintain a lifelong writing follow.


Fellowship Overview

Since its founding, MVICW has awarded over $300,000 in fellowships to help 700+ writers worldwide. Fellowships present full or partial funding to attend the Summer Writers’ Conference, giving recipients the time, house, and assets to concentrate on their artistic work whereas constructing lasting literary networks.

MVICW is dedicated to artistic inclusion and fairness, providing focused fellowships to help writers from traditionally underrepresented or structurally deprived communities.

All fellowship functions share the identical deadline and submission price.

Emerging Writer Fellowships

Deadline: January 19, 2026
Open to writers 18+ who’ve not but printed a ebook or chapbook (together with small or micro-presses). These fellowships help rising writers of all backgrounds and genres attending the Summer Writers’ Conference for the primary time.

Parent-Writer Fellowships

Deadline: January 19, 2026
For writers who’re dad and mom of youngsters 16 or youthful residing with them, providing time and monetary help to concentrate on their writing.

Teach! Write! Play! Fellowships

Deadline: January 19, 2026
For educators and professionals working with youth (21 or youthful), together with academics, professors, social employees, and group organizers.

Queer-Writer Fellowships

Deadline: January 19, 2026
Supporting LGBTQIA+ writers (18+) as part of MVICW’s dedication to increasing the literary canon.

Voices of Color Fellowships

Deadline: January 19, 2026
Includes:

  • Leonard A. Slade Jr. Poetry Fellowships for Poets of Color
  • Voices of Color Prose Fellowships
    Open to writers of shade 18+ throughout genres.

Joyza Caregiver Fellowship

Deadline: January 19, 2026
For full-time major caregivers caring for relations or important others requiring intensive care, or those that have misplaced somebody they had been caregiving for throughout the final six months.


Application Details

  • Submission Fee: $20 per fellowship application
  • What Fellows Receive:
    • Full or partial funding to attend the Summer Writers’ Conference
    • Craft workshops and lessons
    • Access to a world group of writers
    • Ongoing help past the convention
