Applications are open for the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) Environmental Education Internship – Spring 2026. This is a full-time, paid internship for faculty college students, current graduates, and graduate college students who’re concerned with environmental training, science communication, and out of doors studying.

Based at SERC’s 2,650-acre campus on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Edgewater, Maryland, this internship provides an immersive, fingers-on expertise working with Ok–12 college students, academics, volunteers, and stay estuarine animals.

Responsibilities

As an intern with SERC’s Education Department, you’ll:

• Assist with and lead Ok–12 discipline journey applications
• Support trainer skilled improvement workshops
• Learn find out how to assist take care of turtles and fish in instructional aquaria
• Help preserve instructional tools, provides, and educating areas
• Work alongside volunteers and training workers to help public engagement applications
• Participate in two required Saturday applications over the course of the internship

You will even full an unbiased mission on a subject that you just and SERC training workers choose collectively. Interns achieve broad publicity to SERC’s public engagement, participatory science, and science communication initiatives.

Benefits

• Interns will obtain $700 per week.

Eligibility

This internship is right for undergraduate juniors/seniors, current graduates, and graduate college students who’ve:

• Experience working with Ok–12 college students or in environmental/out of doors training
• An curiosity in science, nature, and the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem
• Willingness to work open air in quite a lot of climate circumstances
