Applications at the moment are open for the 2025 University of Edinburgh Julius Nyerere Masters Scholarships. The Nyerere Scholarship supplies funding for a proficient Tanzanian graduate to observe in Julius Nyerere’s footsteps and study at the University of Edinburgh. The profitable candidate will obtain funding for a one-year postgraduate scholarship in the multidisciplinary MSc in Africa and International Development programme. Applicants have to be Tanzanian residents domiciled in Tanzania, who’ve graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam inside the final three years (i.e. 2022-2024) or will likely be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
- The award will likely be made to a Tanzanian citizen domiciled in Tanzania who has graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam inside the final three years (i.e., 2022-2024), or will likely be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025, and who’s accepted on the full-time MSc Africa and International Development programme.
Award
- The scholarship will cowl Tuition Fees and an annual stipend at the UKRI fee (quantity to be suggested; for reference, that is £19,237 in 2024/25). The annual stipend will likely be paid in month-to-month instalments following full matriculation. Payments are made into the awardee’s UK checking account.
- Awards are made for one 12 months solely.
- The award can’t be held alongside another scholarship funding.
Application Process

Notification
- The CAS Selection Panel will meet in February to assessment the scholarship functions. All scholarship candidates will likely be contacted with the final result by the finish of March 2025.
