  • 8 small grants per EIC competition of US$50,000 each (*).
  • *Performance period per small grant: 10 to 12 months in duration.

The EIC aims to provide training and capital funding opportunities to women entrepreneurs in the green and blue economies, with emphasis the following sectors: agriculture, agrifood, fisheries, tourism, manufacturing (i.e. handcrafts, wood, or textiles) and services (i.e. micro-financing, business development, etc.).

The EIC will hold three rounds of Challenges, each awarding up to eight small grants ($50,000). Projects will be of 10-12 months in length per small grant to support innovative solutions for exclusive economic growth, democracy, and human rights. Over the three rounds, each of the following countries will receive at least one small grant: Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Peru. Small grantee project activities will support innovative local solutions to women-owned small businesses and employees in the blue and green economies and increase capacity to address the systematic gender barriers for sustainable economic growth in their communities.

La RED´s sustainability will be further strengthened with the small grantees joining the La RED network. This collaboration with stakeholders will create partnerships , impacting a much wider audience of CSOs, MSMEs from all these countries, helping to reduce the challenges that they currently face.

The EIC will conduct three rounds of competitions, awarding US$50,000 per small grant, reaching 24 small grantees in total to support innovative solutions for unique economic growth, democracy and human rights.

Small grantee project activities will support innovative local solutions to women-owned small businesses and employees in the blue and green economies and increase capacity to address the systematic gender barriers for sustainable economic growth in their communities.

Trainings and capacity building

The small grantees will be provided with a roadmap and training to implement a capacity-building training program oriented to help MSMEs to increase their business management skills.

Small grantees selected will receive a training in democracy and civic engagement that includes: Introduction to Democracy; Citizenship, Introduction to Governance; Democratic Actors; Violence Against Women in Organizations and Design of an Action Plan for their organization. As well as, General principles on gender and entrepreneurship, Women in business, business strategy, planning, innovation, result-based management (RBM), business plans, accounting and costing principles, digital marketing, branding, marketing strategies, among other topics that allows MSMEs to become more competitive.
