The Global Forest Watch Small Grants Fund seeks to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to reduce illegal or unplanned deforestation and sustainably manage forests by incorporating GFW into forest monitoring strategies. Successful projects translate data into action, applying GFW to overcome challenges in protecting the world’s forests.
The Small Grants Fund (SGF) seeks to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to reduce illegal or unplanned deforestation and sustainably manage forests by incorporating GFW into forest monitoring strategies. We are looking for projects that translate data into action, applying GFW tools to overcome challenges in protecting the world’s forests.
Grant recipients are awarded $10,000-$40,000 USD for projects using GFW resources to monitor and prevent deforestation.
Application deadline: February 13, 2024 at 11:59pm EST. Please be aware that applications must be in English.
Who is eligible to apply for the GFW Small Grants Fund and Tech Fellowship?
Only organizations legally designated as non-profit and non-governmental are eligible for the Small Grants Fund. Eligibility criteria, including project country eligibility, can be reviewed. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from the following:
- Private consulting firms
- Research institutions
Tech fellows are individuals who have the passion to provide training and ongoing support to governments and local activists to use forest data and monitoring technology effectively within their work and to enhance their ability to participate in monitoring illegal deforestation.
