the Rise Challenge WITH RISE FOR THE WORLD

Deadline: 17th JAN 2024 | the Rise Challenge WITH RISE FOR THE WORLD

What is the Rise Challenge?

Rise extends an invitation to 15–17-year-olds worldwide to apply for the Rise Challenge each application year. In contrast to many traditional applications, Rise gives candidates many chances to demonstrate their potential through the use of projects, videos, and group interviews. We provide a paper application pathway as an alternative for applicants without access to technology. Rise is an innitiative of RHOADES TRUST AND SCHMIDT TRUST.

Among the tasks required of applicants are self-introductions by text or video, individual projects that showcase their skills and help the community, assessments, and peer reviews of other applicants’ work.

Following the completion of the Rise Challenge, 500 applicants are chosen by Rise to proceed to “Finalist Days,” where they are required to showcase their motivations, problem-solving techniques, and collaborative abilities in a novel interview style.

We choose up to 100 Rise Global Winners from the Finalists to give opportunities to them as they endeavour to help others throughout their lives.

Who is eligible?

Applicants for the 2024 cohort must be between the ages of 15 and 17 as of July 1, 2024, meaning they are born on or between July 2, 2006 and July 1, 2009.

It does not matter what part of the globe you come from, or academic experience you have. Whether you are interested in science, innovation, technology, art, policy, community organizing, or any other discipline—we want to hear from you.

Rise finds promising young people and provides opportunity as they work to serve others throughout their lifetime. We understand that economic barriers are not the only challenges that keep exceptional people from serving others throughout their lives.

Benefits

  • One fully-funded residential summit held in person with fellow Rise Global Winners. Being present at this summit is necessary to keep your status as a Global Winner.
  • A four-year scholarship for post-secondary education, depending on need and not already covered by financial aid, that covers both tuition and a living stipend.
  • Possibility of applying for grants for a non-profit organization or for seed money to launch a social company in order to test out novel solutions to significant issues in local communities or globally. Money will be awarded to Winners and Finalists on a competitive basis.
  • availability of a network of fellow Global Winners, community members, and affiliated organizations, in addition to professional development initiatives mostly conducted via technology (through our matching platform).
  • A set of technology supplies, like a tablet or laptop, to be decided upon and provided right before or during the first term or semester of post-secondary study.
  • Since new opportunities arise every year, specific perks will change. Depending on resources and need, the program may offer Winners and other participants extra perks and services. The ability to apply for graduate school scholarships, access to partner possibilities (such as a database that connects community members to other scholarship programs), and more in-person or virtual gatherings for network members to work together are a few examples of these.
