The SBI Foundation extends invitations to Indian nonprofit organizations with a track record of success to oversee and administer extensive scholarship initiatives.

The SBIF Asha Scholarship was established by the SBI Foundation in 2022 as a strategic effort for “Ensuring Access to Premier Education.” Its goal is to assist deserving individuals from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing higher education. The goal of the SBIF Asha Scholarship is to identify and honour the nation’s greatest young brains, who might not otherwise be able to pursue further education due to their socioeconomic circumstances. Under the SBIF Asha Scholarship, more than 3150 students have received financial assistance to date.

Funding Details

Money will be given out through the SBIF Asha Scholarship. A proposal’s budget cannot exceed Rs. 35.00 crore for a support term of one to two years.

Subject matter: Instruction

  • PAN India is the preferred project location.
  • The SBIF Asha scholarship framework:
  • The following services must be provided by the Agency in order to carry out the SBIF Asha Scholarship:
  • internal, end-to-end Scholarship Management System that is now in use.
  • mobilization and outreach to raise awareness about the Scholarship.
  • Promotion of the SBIF Asha Scholarship via print and digital media, such as emails, newsletters, social media, print ads, and articles, among other things.
  • creation of an online application form and customization of the application administration dashboard (with admin access to SBI Foundation, live and in real-time).
  • Support for applications and answers to questions from applicants to make the application submission process easier.
  • examination of submitted applications, assistance with document submission and verification.
  • conducting taped interviews and using the SBIF Asha Scholarship process for shortlisting and selection.
  • Onboarding of scholars, verification of documents and bank accounts.
  • Grant distribution, oversight, and scholarly input.
  • The organization might also look into the possibilities of receiving funds directly from SBI Foundation beneficiary accounts.
  • A clause requiring an impartial organization to conduct a baseline and endline study must be included in the proposal.
  • Qualifications Requirements for the SBIF Asha Scholarship: The Agency must adhere to the following standards while choosing scholars:
  • Only citizens of India are eligible to apply.
  • Open to students in classes 8 through 12; those pursuing postgraduate and undergraduate degrees from prestigious Indian universities (ranked in the top 100 by the NIRF Ranking, 2023); those enrolled in UG/PG programs at IITs and IIMs; and those pursuing master’s degrees from prestigious international universities (ranked in the top 50 globally, 2023).
  • students that received at least 75% of the possible points in their prior academic year.
  • Students who apply to schools and have a gross annual family income of up to Rs. 3,00,000/-per year.
  • Students applying to colleges who have a gross family income of up to Rs. 6,00,000/year. (Note: Preference will be given to students whose families earn up to Rs. 3,00,000 annually.)
  • In all, each category will have 50% of the spaces set out for female applicants. (In total, recipients are 50% male and 50% female.)

Advantages for Selected Academics:

  • For students in Classes 8–12, up to INR 15,000.
  • 50,000 Indian rupees or more for undergraduates
  • Up to 70,000 Indian rupees for graduate students
  • For students attending IITs to pursue undergraduate degrees, up to INR 3,50,000
  • For students studying an MBA at IIMs, up to INR 5,00,000.
  • Students pursuing higher education from prestigious international universities may be eligible for up to INR 20,00,000 or 50% of the course-related costs, whichever is less.
  • Count of the beneficiaries
  • 8,000 pupils in grades 8 through 12
  • 500 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs.
  • 200 students are enrolled in postgraduate programs.
  • 50 students are enrolled in IITs’ undergraduate programs.
  • 40 students are enrolled in IIMs’ MBA programs.
  • 50 students from prestigious foreign universities pursuing master’s degree programs and beyond

Qualification Standards

  • It will be required of the Agency to have a dashboard or application specifically designed for managing scholarships from start to finish.
  • The organization must have at least three years of experience managing scholarships in the general categories listed below.
  • Scholarship applications are now being accepted via digital platforms.
  • Scholarly mobilization and outreach
  • Support for applications and answers to questions from applicants to make the application submission process easier.
  • examination of submitted applications, assistance with document submission and verification.
  • conducting taped interviews and using the SBIF Asha Scholarship process for shortlisting and selection.
  • Onboarding of scholars, verification of documents and bank accounts.
  • Fund distribution, oversight, and scholarly input
  • Reports from donors

Selection Standards

Project Overview
  • conformity to the structure of the “SBIF Asha Scholarship”
  • The suggested solution, the execution strategy, and the results are all explained in clear and simple terms.
  • inventiveness in the undertaking.
  • risk-reduction strategies.
  • thoroughness of the project timelines and log frame.
  • Process of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • percentage of administrative and overhead expenses relative to the project budget as a whole.
  • Project closure plan and solution sustainability.
  • Experience
  • The NGO must have been in operation for at least three years on the date this RFP was published.
  • The NGO should have overseen large-scale scholarship programs for at least three years in total.
  • The NGOs that can produce quantifiable improvements in order to guarantee the efficacy and efficiency of the intervention will be given priority.
  • The organization needs to be knowledgeable about the accreditations and rankings of academic institutions, colleges, universities, and other establishments in India and outside.
  • The organization has to have overseen a scholarship fund of at least INR 5.00 Cr. to date.
  • A team of at least five permanent employees must be part of the agency’s internal team for project implementation.
  • A scholarship administration site or dashboard must already be in place within the organization.
  • The organization must have thorough and up-to-date SOPs in place for managing scholarship applications.
  • The NGO must have finished a minimum of three comparable tasks or projects that were supported by foundations, public sector organizations, federal, state, or local government agencies.
  • If the organization’s total yearly revenue over the previous three fiscal years is less than Rs. 5.00 Crores, the agency would be disqualified.
  • It is associated with either politics or religion.
  • It doesn’t provide the documents needed for due diligence.
  • There are fewer than three people on the board.
  • There are fewer than five permanent staff.
  • Among the top 3 donors are the individual donors.
