MITACS ELEVATE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS a dedicated professional development curriculum component is called Mitacs Elevate. Fellows tackle difficult problems by:
- A two-year study project involving a partner company that requires advanced knowledge
- A curriculum for professional growth that equips Elevate fellows with the skills necessary to succeed as industry and research leaders
- As students move through the program in cohorts, fellows are afforded opportunities for peer-learning and cross-disciplinary networking that they might not otherwise have in their professional lives.
Fellows split their time between working on a project with their partner organization and conducting research with their academic supervisor at an academic institution during the two-year fellowship.

Concerning the program
A postdoctoral fellowship with a dedicated professional development curriculum component is called Mitacs Elevate. Fellows tackle difficult problems by:
- A two-year study project involving a partner company that requires advanced knowledge
- A curriculum for professional growth that equips Elevate fellows with the skills necessary to succeed as industry and research leaders
- As students move through the program in cohorts, fellows are afforded opportunities for peer-learning and cross-disciplinary networking that they might not otherwise have in their professional lives.
Fellows split their time between working on a project with their partner organization and conducting research with their academic supervisor at an academic institution during the two-year fellowship.
Two options for awards will be available in the Elevate Fall 2022 call: Standard ($60k) and Thematic ($80k).
Standard
- With a minimum stipend of $55,000, the award has an annual value of $60,000.
- Partner organization makes a yearly contribution of $30,000.
- Indigenous Pathways will continue to be offered. Interns and partner organizations that are Indigenous are supported by Indigenous Pathways. Partners only cover 25% of the project’s total cost.
- A premium program for professional growth
- Support for proposals, including comments on applications, from Mitacs representatives
- After receiving their final report and exit survey, a certificate of completion will be issued.
Subject-specific
- With a minimum stipend of $70,000 for initiatives addressing at least one of the following major priority sectors, the prize has an annual value of $80,000. Artificial intelligence, food and agriculture, biomanufacturing, clean technology, media and entertainment, quantum science, or social innovation
- Partner organization makes an annual contribution of $40,000.
- Indigenous Pathways will continue to be offered. Interns and partner organizations that are Indigenous are supported by Indigenous Pathways. Partners only cover 25% of the project’s total cost.
