Belfast Legacy Project: Seed2030! We are giving out ten £1000 Micro Grants in collaboration with One Young World to enable young people in Northern Ireland to experiment with or grow their own ventures or community initiatives that contribute to the achievement of one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Early in 2024, beneficiaries of Seed2030 will assemble in Belfast for a two-day intense Leadership Development Bootcamp aimed at advancing both their own leadership abilities and the advancement of their initiative, campaign, or endeavor.
Grantees will be paired with a mentor from the One Young World ambassador community after the Bootcamp, who will help them launch their project and provide assistance for a period of six months. Staff members at Unloc will also provide the youth with ongoing, consistent support for the duration of the project.
A select few of the beneficiaries will have the chance to apply for Lead2030 and attend the One Young World Summit in Montreal in September 2024, which will help you advance your leadership career.
The Seed2030 financing grant, in conjunction with essential tools, training, and mentorship throughout, will give young people in Northern Ireland a springboard to propel social change and become leaders in their local communities.
The grant application period will commence on Thursday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
The following are the requirements to apply for grants:
- Ages 14 to 25 are required.
- possess a permanent Northern Ireland residency
- Have a concept for a business, social venture, campaign, or community project that aims to achieve one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals?
- Availability for the two-day immersive leadership bootcamp in Belfast, February (Date TBC) is required. In addition to lodging for individuals who do not reside in Belfast, food, refreshments, and transit expenses will all be provided.
We will use three main factors to evaluate applications:
- How solid the plan is for your community initiative or company concept
- The contribution or effect that your endeavor will have on achieving one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals
- How feasible and realistic is your budget?
- The sustainability of your project or business idea after the funds have been spent, as well as its legacy
It’s simple to put into practice:
- Fill out the application form above, providing details about your project budget, idea, and self.
- The application period will be available from November 9, 2023, to January 31, 2024.
- Representatives from Unloc, One Young World, and Young people will assess applications every six weeks, so you shouldn’t have to wait longer than eight weeks to hear from us.
- In the event that you are approved, we must confirm your eligibility before issuing a Revolut or PLEO Visa Debit card that has been pre-paid. You will need to use the incredibly user-friendly PLEO or Revolut app to monitor your expenditure.
- A minimum of three check-in calls with a designated Unloc Staff member and a One Young World Ambassador will also be required of successful applicants. During these calls, you will inform us on your project or company idea, and we will also discuss how we can help you even more.
- In the event that you are not successful, we will notify you as soon as we can and suggest alternative options that you might find interesting. Regretfully, we are unable to finance every wonderful idea that comes to us.
