The Africa CDC is holding a photo competition named “AMR Advocacy in Photos” to encourage artistic expression in a range of media, including photography.

Theme

  • Preventing mutual antimicrobial resistance.
  • An eye-catching image or images that highlight the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental well-being in preventing antibiotic resistance, thereby highlighting the role that each plays in preserving health.

Details of the Prize

  • First phase: All five winners of the first phase will be given the opportunity to participate in the CPHIA Experience in Lusaka, Zambia, and will have the chance to speak with AMR stakeholders.
  • Phase two: The continental winner will be named a Youth Africa CDC AMR champion and will receive the AMR advocacy contest certificate while in Zambia.
  • In addition to providing a platform that includes press releases, public announcements, and recognition at the CPHIA event, Africa CDC will recognise the champion’s accomplishments.
  • In order to allow the winner to work with others in the battle against antimicrobial resistance, Africa CDC will arrange contacts with specialists, professionals, and organisations in the field of AMR, particularly youth-led AMR organisations.
  • Africa CDC will give the champion mentoring and advice on how to actively promote AMR awareness and action, as well as public relations and communication skills to help them engage the media and properly convey their message.

Eligibility

  • Students from all around Africa between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible to enter the contest.
  • The images are in the following formats: bmp, png, psd, tiff, and jpg. File sizes cannot exceed 10 MB.
  • There will be two steps in the choosing process.
  • Phase 1: One winner for each region
  • The election of the regional champions for each of the five regions will comprise this phase.
  • Phase Two: The continental victor.
  • The election of the continental winner will take place at this stage.

Judging Criteria

  • First phase: In cooperation with an impartial panel of AMR adjudicators, the Africa CDC’s communication specialists will evaluate the application.
  • Phase two: The application will be evaluated by the Africa CDC’s communication specialists in association with a third-party panel of AMR adjudicators.

Ineligibility

  • Photos with offensive themes, such as those that are sexual, racist, or that could offend viewers, will not be accepted. If the Consent and Declaration form is not submitted with the photographs, they will be returned.
