The Competition Act No. 12 of 2010 established the Competition Authority of Kenya (the Authority), a Statutory Agency. The Authority’s mandate includes protecting consumers from deceptive and unfair business practises in addition to fostering and preserving competition.

The Authority offers a one-year Young Professional Programme (YPP) to participants in order to familiarise them with the Competition Policy and Law Enforcement, with the goal of stimulating and strengthening their interest in and skill in this area.

Applications from appropriately qualified candidates are invited by the Authority to be considered for the 2024 calendar year.

Certifications.

  • Applicants must be under thirty-five (35) years old and hold a minimum of a master’s degree in a discipline relating to law, economics, or business from an accredited university.

Rules and Regulations

  • The chosen applicants will get a monthly stipend and be bound by a training contract for a duration of one (1) year.
  • Before receiving a certificate at the end of the programme, each Young Professional will need to complete a paper on competition law and policy.
  • Successful professionals may be added to the Authority’s permanent staff when a position becomes available.

  • During the interview, the following agencies’ clearance certifications must be obtained and submitted by the shortlisted candidates:
  • Credit Reference Bureau, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, Criminal Investigations Department, and Directorate of Criminal Investigation

  • Application letter
  • Curriculum vitae;
  • Copy of national ID card;
  • Certified copies of professional and academic credentials; and
