The Global Solutions Initiative’s “Young Global Changers Recoupling Awards” are designed to find and honour young people who are making a positive impact in the world who actively work to “recouple” economic prosperity from environmental sustainability and the needs and demands of communities, individuals, and societies. The goal of the award is to honour practical methods and noteworthy youth-led initiatives that not only effect change locally but also serve as role models and sources of inspiration for others.

A people-centric strategy that prioritises the needs and voices of stakeholders, clients, employees, and communities is necessary for initiatives to succeed. Projects must be developed beyond the concept stage and may involve nonprofit endeavours as well as social enterprises. At the Global Solutions Summit in Berlin, the finalists showcase their initiatives.
Qualifiability Standards
Qualifications for Each and Every Applicant
Regardless of the category in which they apply, all applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible.
- Personal Only: Applications are only accepted from individuals. Only as its representative may you apply; as an organisation, you cannot.
- Leading Role: Individuals applying for projects or initiatives should hold a leading role in such endeavours. (This can be the initiator, co-initiator, project leader, or another similar function.)
- Strong English proficiency is required of participants in order for them to participate in group discussions and present their work to a jury and audience.
- Age: Youth empowerment is the goal of the Young Global Changers programme. The ideal age range for applicants is between 18 and 35.
- Motivation: Applicants should demonstrate a desire to actively participate in a worldwide network that seeks to effect long-term change in the world.
Qualification Standards for Every Project
Regardless of the category they apply to, all projects must meet these requirements in order to be considered.
- Reuniting
- Your application must be for a project, company, or effort that aims to recouple, or better match economic or political actions with social well-being and environmental sustainability. This entails centering political and/or economic endeavours around the demands of the populace and environmental sustainability.
- Stage of Organisation
- The endeavour or project has to progress past the concept stage. It ought to be operational right now.
- Qualifications for Each Category
- Every applicant must meet the aforementioned requirements. There are further requirements for each of the three groups. Below is a complete list of these requirements for each category.

- Social Concern
- To be considered a viable entity, your organisation must be actively engaged in commercial, industrial, or professional endeavours and have a track record of positively impacting social or ecological dimensions.
- Self-Sufficiency in Money
- Your organisation may currently receive financial support from other sources, such as grants, but over the medium to long term, it must strive for financial independence.
- Driven by Purpose – Alignment Priority
- You and your company are successfully implementing a business plan that intentionally combines and materialises commercial success with the improvement of social welfare and/or the support of environmental sustainability.

- Transportation costs to and from Berlin
- Lodging over the five nights of the Global Solutions Summit (May 3–8, 2024)***

- Access to a select international network of Young Global Changers with similar goals
- Opportunities for more participation
- Please take note that following the Global Solutions Summit, you will receive a 6-week refund for all of your out-of-pocket payments. Reimbursement claims must be submitted by participants.
- There could be slight variations in the total amount paid due to currency fluctuations.
- It is possible to receive reimbursement for the cost of an economy class train or aircraft as well as visa fees.
- There can be other expenses that come up that are not covered by the scholarship. These expenses could include food, travel or health insurance, and local transportation in Berlin.
- The Global Solutions Initiative will plan and finance the hotel. It will be situated close to the summit’s location.
- It should be noted that access to Berlin is contingent to local health and security conditions!
