SUMMARY OF THE POST’S FUNCTIONS
- The Consultant/Contract Holder shall provide artificial intelligence (AI) engineering services using Azure OpenAI in compliance with UNESCO rules and regulations, practices, standards, and procedures to support the development of tools and capabilities related to AI technologies in the UNESCO Secretariat. The Consultant/Contract Holder shall operate under the general supervision of the Chief Information Technology Officer and the direct supervision of the Senior Cybersecurity and Digital Assets Manager.
- In addition to supporting the creation of pilot programs for brand-new internal UNESCO services, the consultant/contract holder will help maintain and improve currently available AI solutions.
WORKSHEETS AND DELIVERABLES:
- As an administrator of an Azure AI environment, or on other AI platforms as deemed suitable and authorized by DBS management, deploy, test, and optimize AI applications.
- Verify that the source data was collected, cleaned, and prepared for model training in accordance with UNESCO data standards and ethics, and that the data quality, integrity, and sufficiency were all met.
- Work together to develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for UNESCO’s AI model evaluation with the organization’s external and internal project owners.
- Contribute to the creation of visualization elements and user interfaces to enhance communication with AI systems.
- Participate in the documentation of libraries, tools, and APIs to improve intra-organizational knowledge sharing.
- Take part in efforts to improve the model, such as feature selection, parameter tuning, and ensemble methods.
TERM OF CONTRACT
- The agreement will be in effect starting on December 1, 2023, and it will last for six months. For the term of the contract, it is anticipated that the AI Junior Consultant will be able to work remotely or from a Parisian location.
AVAILABLES
- It is anticipated of the consultant/contract holder to:
- Implement, evaluate, and improve AI applications in response to supervisor requests.
- Give users access to sandbox environments so they may test and collaborate.
- Verify the data collecting process and work with users to develop metrics and KPIs for the assessment of AI models.
- Record tools, libraries, and APIs; record deployments and processes to improve internal knowledge sharing.

IMPORTANT QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Work Experience:
- a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline.
Technical Expertise:
- proficiency with Python, Java, or R—three programming languages that are frequently employed in AI development.
- knowledge of statistical analysis, data pretreatment methods, and visualization software.
Skills for Solving Problems:
- Proven capacity to pick up new skills fast and adjust to new methods, techniques, and technology.
