An explanation
The Senior Financial Officer will be crucial to the division’s work program for market data and valuation delivery and supervision. In addition to representing the division in working groups pertaining to new initiatives and financial instruments, he or she will communicate with counterparts in Finance (WFA, Chief Risk Officer, Treasury, and Corporate Finance).
How your support will enable us to accomplish our objectives:
ACTION TO BE TAKEN:
- Take the lead in managing the evaluation processes for market data, including interest rate, foreign exchange, equities, and credit data. Before being sent to systems further down the line, make sure the data collected by the Bank’s market data system satisfies the necessary quality criteria. Review the market data and model options that are currently in use for derivative valuation and borrowings on a regular basis.
- Examine and develop proposals for the validation of market data, and obtain approvals by putting forth suitable market data, a curve creation technique, and a system design that adheres to industry standards.
- Using Numerix OneView to implement models related to structured and vanilla products.
- Examine the values of the different financial instruments in the IBRD/IDA portfolios using the modeling programs Summit, Murex, and Numerix.
- Use pertinent techniques to analyze the effects of market sensitivity and formalize them into processes and reporting.
- Take the lead in systems projects and activities to operationalize new instruments, improve or modify existing applications.
- Liaise with other MDBs and institutions as well as stakeholders throughout the World Bank.
- Offer guidance and instruction to employees with less experience.
Selection Standards
What’s in store for you:
Instruction:
- A master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field
- Professional certification in finance or accounting (CFA and/or CA, CPA, ACCA, or a comparable accounting certificate)
- Expertise:
- At least eight years of equivalent work experience
- Professional background working for large financial institutions or Big 4 accounting firms, with hands-on experience in bond/swap valuation techniques for structured products, yield and FX volatility surfaces and correlations, and interest rate curve development.
Expertise and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of fixed income securities.
- A thorough comprehension of the market data needed for trading activities relating to the capital market.
- Being aware of suitable valuation models, their limits, and calibration tools.
- Exhibited a strong sense of initiative, confidence, and independence.
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills; a dedication to working in a multicultural, team-oriented workplace; attention to detail.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication, presentation, and validation proposal writing.
- Python (or another programming language) proficiency is preferred.
