Duties
- Conduct field missions as necessary; interview, determine resettlement needs, and process individuals identified for relocation.
- Review and evaluate special resettlement cases as necessary, then create individual submissions to be given to the countries receiving the refugees; inform offices of the progress of special resettlement cases; work with offices to process cases; and offer guidance as needed.
- Adhere to the resettlement standard operating procedures of UNHCR, guaranteeing prompt handling of cases.
- Maintain current records on each case; follow up on the status of cases from submission to departure; provide efficient in-country communication on the status and follow-up of persons of concern (PoC) being considered for resettlement.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information on UNHCR’s resettlement rules and procedures to PoC and partners.
- Assist in maintaining the caliber of submissions by offering the involved staff some fundamental direction and counsel.
- Manage, update, and offer technical support for the proGres or Consolidated Online Resettlement Tracking System (CORTS) database.
- Arrange for the journey and departure of refugees who have been accepted for resettlement.
- Arrange for countries carrying out resettlement missions to get logistical support.
- Keep up-to-date records on each case and correct resettlement data; assist in the report-writing process.
- Assist in developing a plan and budget for resettlement activities and keeping tabs on spending.
- Offer administrative assistance for training initiatives associated with resettlement.
- Follow UNHCR policy and guidelines on HIV/AIDS; systematically apply an age, gender, and diversity perspective to all elements of the resettlement process.
- Provide oversight (including in-country travel), counsel, and assistance to help mitigate resettlement fraud.
- Suggest cases that should be taken into account for resettlement.
- Offer support to people of color.
- Carry out any other necessary relevant tasks.
Minimum Requirements
Years of Experience/Level of Education
- For G6: 2 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or above, or 3 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma.

Language prerequisites

Profile of the ideal candidate
- A candidate with experience working with refugees would be able to interview refugees, evaluate their needs, and decide if they qualify for refugee status and resettlement. They should also be proficient in written English and have great interviewing and counseling skills. The applicant must have a track record of delivering accurate, high-quality written reports. They should also be able to examine complex cases and make wise conclusions thanks to their clear analytical abilities.
- Additionally, the candidate should be able to operate effectively and quickly in a fast-paced setting while yet maintaining case processing deadlines. The individual should be adaptable and able to handle a variety of duties because they might be given more responsibility.
- In this capacity, having strong technical expertise in statistics reporting for resettlement will be beneficial. The proGres database may be managed, updated, and maintained with the right knowledge of data management.
