Duties

  • Assist with administrative chores as needed, including report creation, meeting with authorized staff, and supporting them when on field assignments.
  • Serve as an interpreter during the exchange of standard information, participate in associated liaison activities, and give direct answers to standard inquiries.
  • Gather statistics and other pertinent information pertaining to UNHCR and report to the supervisor as appropriate.
  • Contact local authorities and implementation partners on a frequent basis as directed by your supervisor.
  • Work with implementing partners to support the UNHCR’s receipt, registration, and assistance of people who are of concern to them.
  • Communicate with partners, colleagues in local authorities, and populations of interest.
  • When occurrences and issues cannot be resolved at their level, report them to the supervisor.
  • Carry out any other necessary relevant tasks.

  • For G4, one year of relevant experience and a high school diploma, a bachelor’s degree, or a degree of higher education

Language prerequisites

Profile of the ideal candidate

  • An Assistant Field Officer oversees the incumbent and establishes overall work objectives as well as any necessary advise and direction. At the Sub-Office, s/he handles a variety of tasks related to Field activities and could be asked to manage lower-level employees.
  • The position holder will carry out administrative duties such writing reports, meeting with authorized people, and supporting them while on a field mission, among others. He or she will serve as an interpreter during normal information exchanges, participate in associated liaison activities, and give straight answers to frequent questions.
  • Additionally, the incumbent must routinely communicate on protection, solutions, and other operational issues with representatives of the county or local government, leaders in the refugee community, local/host populations, and partners on the ground.
  • He or she is required to participate in focus groups, participatory evaluations, and other field-level activities, as well as coordination and other meetings at the camp and community levels on topics like care and maintenance.
  • The employee’s responsibility is to gather statistics and other pertinent information for UNHCR and report to the manager.
  • Finally, the worker shall also be needed to fulfill other duties or obligations that may be given by supervisor and or senior management.
