The programme will assist 111 young women from 37 participating nations and territories and 13+ American peers in 2024 as they engage in an exciting four-week experience in the United States and a seven-month mentoring programme (including pre- and post-exchange).

TechGirls has supervised and trained 653 teenage girls since 2012. The TechGirls programme initially concentrated on nations in the Middle East and North Africa. The TechGirls programme expanded internationally in the summer of 2022, drawing in a talented group of young women with an interest in STEM from the United States and a few other countries in each of the six world regions (the Western Hemisphere, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Eurasia, East Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, and South and Central Asia).

The main component of the TechGirls programme is a 24-day stay in the US. Participants in an interactive tech camp run in collaboration with Virginia Tech get an in-depth look at cutting-edge technologies as well as other career and educational options in the STEM sectors. After that, TechGirls visit a city in the USA (Austin, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, or Seattle) to immerse themselves in the local culture and explore STEM careers. As participants return home to carry out community-based projects with seven months of mentoring, the TechGirls programming has a multiplier impact.
