Justification

  • In order to provide communication and advocacy materials that can be used by UNICEF’s internal and external partners across many platforms, this consultancy’s goal is to provide audio visual documentation in digital original format of UNICEF on UNICEF-supported programs in Uganda.
  • The main tasks of a videographer include recording videos, editing them, and generating the finished product. The finished product may take the form of a short film, a documentary, a popular video on the internet, or online video snippets for use on traditional and social media. The footage’s main subjects will be UNICEF’s work in its thematic areas, its partners, grantees, and donors, as well as project activities, project/program launches, field monitoring, donor missions, and any other UNICEF events held in Kampala or elsewhere. The work of the videographers will aid UNICEF’s Communication Section in promoting UNICEF Uganda’s initiatives, documenting its responses, and showcasing the effects of its efforts through the prism of succinct and captivating videos. The target audiences, partners, donors, and decision-makers for UNICEF will all receive the movies and footage.

Objectives

  • The ultimate goal is to create a list of pre-approved videographers (consultants) with agreed-upon terms of engagement and costs that apply when they are actually hired. This would make it easier for the UNICEF Uganda Country Office to hire their services and document UNICEF’s fieldwork as needed for sharing with national, regional, and international partners. Minimum days of employment are not guaranteed by the contract.
  • These jobs call for highly qualified videographers with excellent editing abilities who can produce high-quality video materials focusing on issues affecting women and children and showing UNICEF’s response in collaboration with the government of Uganda, district authorities, implementing partners, the private sector, and others. Given that the majority of the work is done in the most at-risk neighborhoods, the videographer will be given the opportunity to go on field trips and produce a wide variety of raw footage.

Particular Tasks

  • Produce artistically created video packages using footage captured and edited, together with a shot list, script, split cut, B-roll, and voice-over, depending on pre-established advocacy priorities.
  • Create short films with human interest themes that tell the narrative of transformation via the perspectives of one or more field protagonists.
  • Find and get the appropriate music that fits the video’s goals and the goals of the items.
  • Record voiceovers in numerous Ugandan languages using high-quality professional voices.
  • The video products should be edited to provide emotive, high-quality, and engaging content. Graphics should be added as needed, and sound bites should be subtitled as necessary in both English and the local language.
  • As per UNICEF rules, make sure that the UNICEF videography consent form is filled out and signed by the parents/guardians of all children appearing in the film.
  • Present the video to UNICEF, then make the required adjustments based on their input.

  • Travel to a site or the field to record projects or activities and produce video with sound bites in accordance with certain assignments.
  • Script creation in cooperation with the Communication Section
  • evaluate and edit video, including recorded interviews, and, if necessary, translate interviews into short segments and media news articles.

If you want to be an advocate for every child, you’ll need to…

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, broadcast journalism-TV, or the equivalent in related fields of experience.
  • Five years of professionally responsible job experience in the aforementioned disciplines, including interactive digital media.

Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate thoughts and concepts in both written and spoken form clearly and succinctly; expertise in filming and editing programs.
  • Understanding of contemporary communication theories and methods, as well as research, analysis, planning, strategy formulation, and Uganda’s digital and TV landscape.
  • demonstrated aptitude for conceptualizing, organizing, and carrying out ideas as well as for teaching others.
  • Attention to detail and creativity with varied communication concepts are needed.
  • Given that some of the assignments may be ad hoc, it is desirable that the bidders be based in or close to Kampala.
  • All of the districts served by UNICEF nationwide should be accessible to bidders.
  • prior experience working in emergency, development, and humanitarian relief.
  • English proficiency is necessary.
