How can you influence things?

  • The Level 3 WASH Specialist receives reports from the WASH Officer. Since Level 1 is a professional entry-level position, it should typically be used as a trainee level for the purpose of learning organizational rules, regulations, and processes to complement academic and theoretical knowledge of the profession in preparation for advancement to higher responsibilities. At this level, incumbents aren’t anticipated to hold their positions for very long.
  • The WASH Officer supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of the WASH output results of the Country Programme by providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process through the application of theoretical and practical technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting programme information while learning organizational rules, regulations, and procedures.

  • Trends in regional and national politics, WASH, health, and social and economic development should be researched and analyzed. To aid in the conception, planning, and preparation of programs, collect, analyze, verify, and synthesize information.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevancy of information when preparing technical reports and program preparation and documentation.
  • Through study of the needs and priorities of the WASH sector, assist in the development/establishment of WASH-related outcomes and output results, as well as related strategies.
  • By carrying out/managing a variety of technical programme transactions, creating materials/documentation, and adhering to organizational processes and management systems, you can provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes to support progress toward the WASH-related outcome and/or output results in the Country Programme.
  • Prepare the necessary papers and documentation to speed up the review and approval processes.
  • Results delivery, monitoring, and management of the program
  • Collaborate with coworkers and partners to gather, analyze, and exchange information on implementation problems, to offer fixes for implementing programs on a regular basis, and to notify the proper authorities and stakeholders for higher-level interventions and/or choices. Keep track of reports and evaluations for reference purposes or to document and preserve lessons learnt.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities, program reviews, and annual sectoral reviews with the government and other peers. Prepare minutes or reports on the outcomes for upper management and other stakeholders to evaluate.
  • The use of sectoral program resources (financial, administrative, and other assets) is monitored and reported on, and conformity with approved allocations, organizational rules, regulations, and procedures, donor commitments, and ethical and moral standards is checked. Report on issues found so that stakeholders and management may address them quickly. Follow up on open issues to make sure they are resolved.
  • Prepare reporting inputs for donors and programs.to encourage advocacy and education based on evidence.
  • Encourage State and LGA WASH organizations to maintain a consistent information flow for a successful database management system.
  • Support for program implementation from a technical and operational perspective
  • conduct field research and surveys assemble data and distribute it to stakeholders and partners. Report urgent problems, bottlenecks, and prospective difficulties to the supervisor for prompt resolution.
  • Assist in the execution of programs by providing technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners, and other national office partners and donors on the use and comprehension of UNICEF policies, strategies, processes, and best practices in WASH.
  • WASH readiness and response for humanitarian purposes
  • Creating long-term agreements, cooperation agreements, and coordination procedures are just a few of the draft inputs needed to plan for WASH emergency preparedness.
  • Study and completely comprehend UNICEF’s emergency response processes.
  • As and when necessary, assume support roles in emergency response and early recovery.
  • Whenever necessary, represent the Field Office WASH team at EOC sessions.

  • Create advocacy communication and information products for WASH programs to raise awareness, develop alliances and collaborations, and assist in WASH funding.
  • Participate in interagency meetings and events related to WASH programming to work with interagency partners and colleagues on preparing WASH projects and programmes for the UNDAF and to integrate and harmonize UNICEF output results and implementation strategies with the UNDAF development and planning processes.
  • Prepare resource mobilization materials and briefs and conduct research on possible contributors in order to raise money and build partnerships.
  • Knowledge management, innovation, and capacity building
  • Help create, put into practice, track, and record WASH action research and innovation (technical or systemic).
  • Assist in the creation of learning/knowledge products that span creative strategies, ethical business practices, and human-interest tales to assist the development of the WASH industry as a whole.
  • To guarantee that our sector’s capability remains current with new advances, assist in developing and providing learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH personnel.
  • Participate as a resource person in projects aimed at boosting the clients’ and stakeholders” competencies.
  • You must meet certain requirements to be an advocate for every child.

Education:

  • A university degree in public health, the social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering, or another pertinent technical subject is necessary.
  • A strong asset are additional pertinent post-graduate courses that add to or supplement the major degree.

Experience:

  • DEVELOPMENTAL: Professional experience in WASH-related programs for developing countries of at least one year is essential.
  • HUMANITARIAN: It’s helpful to have a basic understanding of emergency planning and response.

Language prerequisites

  • English proficiency is necessary. Knowledge of a second official language of the UN or the native tongue of the duty location is seen as advantageous.
