To address the needs of the value chain, Senegal’s Regional Centre of Excellence (CRE) on dry cereals and related crops consists of a number of research and educational institutes. The National School of Agriculture (ENSA), the Institute of Food Technology (ITA), and the Regional Study Centre for the Improvement of Adaptation to Drought (CERAAS) work together to coordinate this under the direction of the Senegalese Agricultural Research Institute (ISRA). The Office of Macroeconomic Analysis (BAME) and the National Centre for Agronomic Research (CNRA) in Bambey are two ISRA centres that are crucial to the CRE. The CRE brings together research and teaching abilities in a variety of sectors, including plant improvement, soil sciences, agri-food processing, breeding, and animal feed, etc., due to its institutional makeup. Additionally, the CRE depends on other ISRA research facilities like the In Vitro Culture Research Unit (URCI) to expand its area of expertise to in vitro plant vegetative multiplication.
