Eligible countries: | Botswana, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are all countries in Africa. The Community Solutions Programme (CSP) is a 12-month professional development programme for community leaders who are already working to better their neighbourhoods by tackling problems with democracy and human rights, the environment, peace and conflict resolution, and women and gender. The CSP consists of a six-month follow-up community project that fellows carry out in their own countries after completing a four-month practical U.S. practicum and receiving individualised leadership mentoring and training through a graduate-level leadership programme.

Eligibility
- Applicants must fulfil the requirements given below in order to be eligible for the Community Solutions Programme. Applications that do not comply with these eligibility standards will be rejected, and the selection committee will not evaluate them.
- As of January 1, 2024, you are between the ages of 26 and 39.
- You are a national of one of the qualifying nations mentioned below.
- You are a resident and employee of your country of origin.
- People with refugee status who act on behalf of their hometown may receive special treatment
- You’ve worked on community development for at least two years, either as a volunteer or as a full-time job.
- You are not presently enrolled in a study, training, or research programme in the United States.
- At the time of application, you are highly proficient in both spoken and written English.
- A TOEFL or IELTS English language test must be taken and passed by semifinalists, or they must provide their most current test results.
- From August to December 2024, you have four months of travel freedom in the United States.
- You are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and you have not applied in the last three years.
- You’re qualified for a J-1 visa to the United States.
- Candidates who have completed a U.S. government-sponsored exchange programme must have met the two-year home residency requirement.
- After completing the programme, you’re committed to staying in your native country for at least two years, and
- You are not a current consultant or employee of IREX, or a member of their immediate family.

- The programme pays for the majority of costs connected with:
- J-1 visa assistance
- round-trip airfare from the home city of participants to the U.S.
- A monthly stipend to help with accommodation, food, and other costs of living while visiting the United States.

- Accessibility aids, such as ADA-compliant classrooms for in-person instruction, JAWS software, community support, and community training
Community leaders will be chosen to take part in the following programme: - Fellowship lasting four months in the US: Community Solutions fellows are paired with host
- organisations around the country where they conduct a four-month, practical professional practicum to develop their technical skills and experience.
- Community Leadership Institute: Community Solutions fellows take part in this graduate-level leadership programme, which aims to improve their managerial and leadership abilities.
- The Institute offers networking opportunities, professional mentoring, online courses, and in-person training.
- Community-based programmes Community Solutions fellows conceive and plan a community development project or initiative while they are abroad, with assistance from their U.S. host organisation. Following their departure from the United States, the fellows carry out a six-month follow-up project in their local communities.
