The Liz Hughes Award for Her Farm Radio honours outstanding radio shows that cater to female audiences. Winning radio shows investigate and promote gender equality, for instance by sharing the thoughts and experiences of women, focusing on issues that are significant to women, or highlighting the contribution of men to gender equality.

The station team, which includes the manager(s), producer(s), host(s), presenter(s), reporter(s), technician(s), and others, is recognised with this award.
Award
- The winning broadcast team will be awarded a certificate and a $1,000 CAD prize in appreciation of their outstanding effort.
Eligibility
- The Liz Hughes Award is open to all Farm Radio International broadcasting partners in sub-Saharan Africa.
Application
- The following documents must be sent via email to radio@farmradio.org by broadcasters or station managers on behalf of their programme team in order to apply.
- The application form below, filled out with thorough responses.
- a copy of your show’s recording. (If possible, send a 2022 episode.)
- a complete transcription of the recorded episode in Swahili, Amharic, French, or Portuguese. The transcript, which is a written account of your episode that includes all of the hosts’ and each guest’s spoken words, makes sure that the award judges can appreciate the substance and calibre of your work.
- A runsheet or average programme lineup in Word or PDF format.
- In addition to English and French, applications will also be taken in Hausa, Swahili, and Portuguese. The application date is October 20, 2023.
