The TANDEM Media Awards, a regional media competition supported by the European Union (EU), are being presented by EU Neighbours South for the second time.

The competition emphasises pair partnerships and strives to honour the cultural subject, an area in which the EU is involved through various forms of support and contributions.

Categories

  • Pairs will participate in 4 categories for the second edition:
  • Journalism TANDEM
  • A man and a woman who are both working journalists make up this TANDEM.
  • The two journalists may work in two separate areas of journalism and are not obliged to work for the same outlet.
  • TANDEM College
  • A working journalist and a journalism student make up this TANDEM.
  • A professional journalist who also teaches journalism courses must work in the media. The pupil needs to be registered for a journalism programme.
  • TANDEM Art The members of this TANDEM are a media expert and an artist.
  • TANDEM Pictures
  • A media specialist and a professional photographer make up this TANDEM.

Theme

  • The TANDEM Media Awards competition has a cultural theme, and its tagline is “Speak up culture!” The focus of the contest’s second iteration is on the cultural and creative industries.
  • It aims to highlight the social, economic, and human effect of culture on the lives of individuals and communities in the Southern Neighbourhood of the European Union through original journalistic creations connected to an EU-funded project or cultural initiative in the region.

Prize Specifics

  • Each winning team will get a distinguished award from TANDEM Media Awards as well as a cash prize of EUR 3,000.
  • The prize-giving ceremony will also provide selected pairings the chance to attend, providing them a chance to network with experts and other competitors.

Eligibility

  • The TANDEM Media Awards are accepting nominations. contest is open to print journalists and/or reporters (daily, weekly, monthly, printed or online), audiovisual journalists and/or reporters (television channels, production companies, and online television), professional photographers as well as journalism students and artists from all disciplines from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Tunisia.
  • The two competitors who make up a pair may be from different nations. Collaborations between competitors from various nations are strongly encouraged.
  • There is no age restriction and entry is free.
  • The EU Neighbours South programme team, the jury, and the staff of the European institutions are all prohibited from competing.
  • A proof of identity (identity card or passport) and a professional document demonstrating that the winner meets these requirements will be required.
  • Journalism students will need to show documentation of their enrollment in a journalism programme.
  • Participants must own the piece’s rights and be its writers.
  • It is not acceptable for one participant to submit more than one entry.
