Budgetary Priorities
- Trustee assistance is preferred for initiatives that directly enhance patient satisfaction and the calibre of palliative care services for patients of all ages.
- Please take notice that this round’s financing priority include Covid-19 prevention and protection for medical staff, patients, and their families as crosscutting concerns. As a result, they are currently inviting applications for jobs that will enable services to address the COVID-19 epidemic.
The following items receive priority, in no particular order:
- A curriculum or summary of the topics to be addressed, the trainers’ curriculum vitae (CVs), a completed training template, and the name of the accrediting authority are required of applicants for training sessions for palliative care service providers held in Africa. For those applying to enrol in courses, funds will be granted once they have received a letter of acceptance from the training school.
- Training in handling Covid-19, including prevention, containment, referral, immunisation, and use of PPE, will also be taken into consideration for this round.
- Patient supplies, such as beds and wheelchairs. PPEs for employees and patients, as well as any additional equipment to support patients receiving palliative care and prevent the spread of Covid-19, may also be considered as equipment for this round.
- Projects that support paediatric palliative care services, such as buying toys, incorporating paediatric services into a current programme, creating advocacy materials, etc.
- Essential medications and personal safety gear for palliative care. For this round, drugs and equipment could also include PPE like masks, aprons, gowns, face shields, temperature guns, hand sanitizer, soap, etc. that is meant to protect the safety of patients and employees.
- Capital expenditures (such as building renovations to enhance patient comfort, furniture purchases, etc.)
- Creating small palliative care projects, such as incorporating palliative care elements into already-existing health care services, adapting palliative care models, engaging in quality improvement activities like developing standards for palliative care, and assisting health care providers in starting new palliative care projects where none already exist.
- Applications for the costs of modifying current projects and services in light of the Covid-19 situation will be taken into consideration for this round.
- Expanding rural residents’ access to palliative care services. Applications for projects aimed at raising awareness of Covid-19 transmission, prevention, and immunisation among palliative care patients and communities will be taken into consideration for this round. For patients receiving palliative care, the True Colours Trust will also take into account requests for funding to cover the costs of airtime or virtual visits.
- Applications for funding towards the costs of airtime, data, hardware, or software for remote service delivery, training, mentoring, or meetings will be taken into consideration for this round.
- Responding to emergency situations, such as severe weather or disease outbreaks, to address how they may affect the delivery of palliative care services.
- Applications from organisations with yearly revenues under $500,000 will be given priority by the trustees.
