The Government of Kenya’s Presidential Digital Talent Programme Digitalent is a public-private partnership programme with a focus on ICT innovations, on-the-job coaching, mentorship, training, and skill development. It is a 12-month internship programme whose goals include helping fresh graduates gain high-end ICT skills, providing a platform for structured training, coaching, and mentorship, and encouraging the creation of ICT innovations and solutions.

The presidential Digital Talent Programme was established to help the government acquire ICT leadership, technical, and managerial competencies to develop, procure, implement, and maintain an appropriate ICT framework for efficient service delivery. ICT culture transformation that approaches ICT as business in support of government delivery objectives and Management Discussion Develop a pipeline of future talent for government that have experience and enthusiasm for ethical and accountable public service delivery.
Eligibility
- In the previous two years (starting in January 2021) applicants MUST have earned First or Upper Second-Class Honours (or the equivalent) from a recognised institution.
- Provide a recommendation or reference letter from the university stamped and signed by the university stating First or Upper Second-Class Honours to be granted if delaying graduation (till December 2023).
- Recent BSc. ICT or Engineering (Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Software, Security) graduates must have in-depth knowledge of the core specialisation areas, including Multimedia (ICT Graphics & Digital Marketing), Networks & Digital Infrastructure, Software Development & IA, Information Security, and Information Analytics. Prior to the interview, the applicant might need to present technical expertise in their area of focus.
- Should NOT have participated in any other government internship programme and is currently unemployed
- Applicants must be prepared and willing to work full time, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, in any government organisation (MCDAs) located within the 47 counties.
- Applications are welcomed from women, people with disabilities, and graduates from ASAL regions.
Programme Information
Partnership
The goal of the digitalent project, a public-private partnership initiative, is to encourage alliances, associations, and/or cooperative efforts.
Training & Collaboration
Digitalent provides specialised training and certification to help people gain the skills necessary to advance legally in their careers.
Mentorship
An experienced professional volunteer who is willing and able to share their expertise, knowledge, and networks with the mentee will serve as a DigiTalent mentor.
Development & Incubation
A digital innovation fills a known gap in society or government through invention or process improvement.
Important Information
It is the applicant’s duty to confirm the following:
- International University: Graduates holding degrees from international universities should affix a certificate from the Kenya National Qualification Authority (KNQA) attesting to their credentials. If the certificate is in a language other than English, an English translation from the appropriate embassy must also be included.
Grade equivalent to a degree
- Universities having GPAs should attach GPAs that are comparable to Kenya Public University, for example. comparable GPA for second-class honours upper division
No Certificate Obtained
- Include a letter of recommendation or reference from the university that is stamped and signed by the dean of students and indicates whether First- or Upper Second-Class Honours will be given.
