The U.S. Consulate General, Lagos, introduced the dynamic youth-based Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) in 2011. Nigerian youth with remarkable vision, talent, and experience are brought together by CYFI to create and carry out projects that will benefit Nigerian society. Walter Carrington, a former ambassador to Nigeria who served as the organization’s inspiration, was a supporter of democracy, civil liberties, and improved ties between the United States and Nigeria.
