Some of the biggest environmental problems facing civilization can potentially be solved by fungi. Whether it’s combating climate change, tackling the drastic loss of biodiversity, promoting more regenerative agriculture, a circular economy, or substituting safer, more sustainable products for those made of fossil fuels or other toxic materials.
But in terms of releasing and utilizing the power of this extraordinary realm, we have barely begun. There is a ton more to discover!
With The Future is Fungi Award, we hope to recognize and highlight the cutting-edge research that examines how fungi might be used to solve environmental problems. We want to bring newly discovered and rapidly developing fields of fungal research and start-up technologies out of the shadows and into the light.
Additionally, we hope to stimulate new ideas and research in the limitless realm of fungus study and application.
Real world issues require real world answers. In order to speed our transition to a more sustainable, regenerative route, we also aim to encourage the commercialization of fungal research and the application of its findings to real-world problems. to release fungus so they can do their magic.
We also want to let everyone know about the possibilities of fungus.
