The 30th of September 2023 is the deadline | indigenous Fellowship Program of the UN OHCHR 2024 (Fully Funded)
For the UN OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship Program 2024, applications are being accepted. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) introduced the Indigenous Fellowship Program in 1997 as part of the first International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People.
The program’s goal is to provide indigenous people with the chance to learn more about the UN system and the procedures that deal with issues related to human rights in general and indigenous concerns in particular. Participants who have received training are better prepared to support their organizations and communities in defending and advancing their rights. The five languages that make up this training curriculum are English, Spanish, French, Russian, and Portuguese.
Over the course of four weeks in Geneva, fellows from the program’s five language components get training in tandem with simultaneous interpretation. The annual session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (June/July each year) and the training program are typically held at the same time, allowing fellows to engage more fully in that Mechanism.
Benefits
For the length of the program, the chosen candidates are entitled to a round-trip ticket, living expenses, and fundamental health insurance.
