Concerning the Organization
Habitat for Humanity hosts the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum every two years to bring together people who are interested in developing inclusive and creative solutions for housing-related problems and in promoting affordable housing as an engine of economic growth. On October 26–27, 2023, in Suwon, Republic of Korea, the 9th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum will be conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
Regarding the Grant
Young people are in a unique position to influence change in their communities. Recognizing this potential, the Youth Solutions Micro-Grant will help young people in the Asia-Pacific region launch, reproduce, or scale up creative solutions to housing and urban concerns.
A microgrant from Youth Solutions will:
- Bolster young people’s ideas by providing them with worldwide professionals’ mentoring;
- five (5) young people’s proposals for a more creative, inclusive, and cooperative housing ecosystem for sustainable urban development should each receive a seed grant of US$2,000;
- To network and present their solutions to players in the housing and urban sectors around the Asia-Pacific region, invite ten youth-led organizations to participate in the Youth Assembly in Suwon, South Korea.
- Only those solutions that are created and run by youth for the good of the area in which they operate will be supported by this microgrant. Youth, according to Habitat for Humanity, is defined as someone between the ages of 18 and 30.
Eligibility
The same standards that apply to Habitat for Humanity’s other partners apply to youth-led organizations, youth groups, social enterprises, or young people who wish to apply for the Youth Solutions Micro-Grant in 2023. Applications must adhere to the safeguarding rules of Habitat for Humanity International and be accountable, transparent, and free from any form of discrimination.
The following requirements must be met by applicants in order to be eligible for the micro-grant:
A majority of the jobs and decision-making functions inside the organization are held by people between the ages of 18 and 30. Be a young person or be a youth-led organization.
be able to use the micro-grant for a brand-new project or an already-existing one.
have no allegiance to or ties to violent ideas, and have no animosity toward any specific nation, culture, religion, or belief system, ethnic group, or gender, etc.
How to Apply:
- From July 15, interested people or organizations may submit an application. August 19, 2023 is the deadline for applications. Through the online application process, the following will be submitted:
- Complete online application form with information on the proposer, a context analysis and problem identification, b the suggested youth-led solution, c the project budget, and d the project sustainability.
- A succinct video proposal for the suggested project, no longer than 60 seconds. This can be as easy as having your team briefly summarize your suggested solution.
