What is the call for proposals’ primary goal?

Five distinct projects known as “Clusters” will be implemented as part of the WYDE project. Through the re-granting program, the first cluster, “Generate Democracy: Involving Youth CSOs in Democracy Support,” aims to give youth CSOs the chance to put the lessons they’ve learned from the other clusters into practice and take on responsibility for real-world initiatives that advance civic engagement and democracy.

The WYDE project’s overarching goal is to encourage young civic engagement and participation in the decision-making processes throughout the Sub-Saharan Countries by funding and implementing national and transnational projects.

What are the call’s precise objectives?

  • Empower youth-focused organizations to take on a meaningful role in promoting youth involvement in democracy;
  • Encourage peer-to-peer education among youth organizations;
  • increase the capacity of a global network of youth organizations and leaders;
  • increase communication and collaboration between the youth civil society and the local, national, and international decision-makers;
  • Encourage the creation or enhancement of youth-representative institutions (such youth councils or youth parliaments).

The WYDE call for proposals’ initial phase will stay open until 15 August 2023.

What options are available for action?

This request for proposals will provide funding for projects that uphold the following five Human Rights Based Approach methodology guiding principles:

  • Enforcing universally all human rights
  • Involvement that is meaningful and inclusive and access to decision-making
  • Transparency; non-discrimination; equality; responsibility; and the rule of law for all
  • Access to knowledge provided by de-identified data.

Where could the project be put into action?

With a particular focus on Sub-Saharan African nations, selected companies should be conducting national and international projects to enhance youth civic engagement and involvement in the decision-making processes.
