This fellow will develop their investigative reporting abilities over the course of two years by developing and creating photographs for various platforms, working with ProPublica on in-depth investigative projects, and pitching and carrying out independent visual stories. Through their work, ProPublica will be able to engage different audiences who would not often read long-form journalism and move beyond conventional story formats.
Investigative reporting by ProPublica aims to bring about change in the real world, not only reveal crime and injustice. This position calls for individual creativity, collaborative curiosity, passion, and a strict commitment to ProPublica’s impact-based purpose. Boyzell Hosey, senior editor for visual storytelling at ProPublica, who has worked on five Pulitzer Prize-winning pieces, will be the mentor for the Diamonstein-Spielvogel fellow. They will have the option of working on investigative stories and long-form narratives from either New York or one of ProPublica’s regional offices in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Phoenix, or Berkeley, California.
