About Clifford Chance
Clifford Chance is a renowned international law company. The yearly award, which is accessible to NGOs worldwide, recognizes non-governmental organizations (NGOs) whose work contributes to the accomplishment of the UN SDGs in keeping with the firm’s pro bono and community engagement policy.
AWARDS
- The winning NGO will receive a donation from the company of £50,000 and 500 hours of pro bono assistance as part of the SDG Award, which will help increase their capacity and multiply the impact of their work.
- With a primary focus on aligning with SDG 8 (“Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all”).
- As well as the various targets under some of the other SDGs, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9, that are also relevant to widening access to sustainable economic opportunity.
- The UN SDG Award this year seeks to recognize outstanding contributions towards increasing access to sustainable economic opportunity.
Judges
The judges are especially interested in prize submissions that show creative strategies that help people achieve safe and secure jobs, create profitable enterprises, or become economically self-sufficient, including via the use of technology. Additionally, the contributions must have the ability to be scaled up and replicated.
- Regardless of the size, location, or prior interactions an entrant has had with Clifford Chance, all entries will be evaluated according to the same standards.
Last year’s prize, which focused on educational institutions whose work helps to the attainment of SDG 4, was won by humanitarian, digital connection organisation Jangala. With the help of Clifford Chance‘s pro bono assistance and finance, Jangala is actively expanding its activities around the world and navigating the intricate web of international legislation governing wireless technology.
