The CYFI Entrepreneurship Program 2023 for Student Entrepreneurs is currently accepting applications. In order to support youth employment and economic growth in Lagos State, this program will provide 50 aspirant and budding student entrepreneurs in tertiary institutions across the state with the abilities, know-how, and network necessary to adapt to the changing business environment.

Given that young people between the ages of 15 and 35 make up over 60% of the population of Nigeria and account for a sizeable share of the unemployed, youth unemployment is a serious concern for the nation. University students make up the majority of this population. They offer their distinctive perspectives to drive innovation and handle business concerns, but they are constrained by resources, knowledge, and a supportive environment.
The U.S. Consulate General, Lagos, introduced the dynamic youth-based Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) in 2011.
Eligibility
- open to college and university students.
- not older than 18 to 35.
- To participate in the program for three to four hours each week from August to November.
- Only available to students in Lagos State’s tertiary institutions.
Application
Date by which the application procedure must be finished:
- Application opens on June 16th.
- June 30: Deadline for applications
- Semi-finalists are informed on July 14.
- 28th of July: Finalists informed
- August 2023: Start of the program
- November 2023: Day of the Pitch/Demo
