The GCSP Prize for Innovation in Global Security 2023 is currently accepting applications. The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and its Geopolitics and Global Futures Programme established a prize in 2015 as part of their Creativity and Innovation Initiative to honor deserving people or organizations that take a creative approach to addressing global security challenges.

The award is intended to include all pertinent subjects and expertise. Its goal is to promote and honor excellence in developing fresh ideas for boosting long-term global security. Projects from a wide range of fields, including but not limited to technological and conceptual advances, original research, or grassroots activities, may be eligible for consideration.
Prizes
The winning application will receive CHF 10,000 in addition to a certificate of excellence. A certificate of recognition will be given to the two additional finalist applicants.
First, second, and third place winners will be officially recognized during a ceremony in November 2023.
Eligibility
- The award is given for initiatives by any person, team of people, or organization (from the public or commercial sectors) that improve global security.
- Applications may come from any nation, but the projects must look beyond national boundaries and attempt to address global security in fresh or original ways. Projects from a wide range of fields, including but not limited to technological and conceptual advances, original research, or grassroots activities, may be eligible for consideration.
- Participants who work for the GCSP or its personnel, as well as their families, are not eligible.
Selection Standards
The winners (first, second, and third place) will be decided by a team of judges based on the following factors:
- Commitment to long-term global security
- Preservation of justice, safety, and human dignity
- Creativity Originality Application
Applications must be submitted by September 25, 2023, at 23:59 UTC+2. November 2023 will see the winners announced.
To be eligible for the prize, applications must be submitted using the online application form and must contain the following information:
- a project abstract of no more than 250 words;
- a well-written project description that is no longer than 750 words;
- a description of the project’s technical procedure, if applicable;
- an estimate of the project’s necessary budget;
- a justification of the project’s original contribution to the field of international security;
- a description of the project’s immediate and long-term effects on the area of international security;
- five picture files maximum (optional).
