Talented Tanzanian students can pursue their studies at the University of Edinburgh with the help of the Nyerere Scholarships, which give financial support. The Centre of African Studies will grant a Tanzanian resident a one-year postgraduate scholarship through the kind donation of a donor so that they can enroll in a Masters-level program there.
The scholarship will pay for tuition fees as well as a stipend (to be determined; for comparison, the amount was £13,500 in 2022–2023). Following full matriculation, the annual stipend will be paid in quarterly installments. September and December 2023, as well as March and June 2024, are when payments are due.
An applicant from Tanzania who is admitted into the full-time MSc African and International Development program will receive the grant.
Candidates must possess—or anticipate obtaining—the equivalent of a first-class or 2.1 honors undergraduate degree in the humanities or social sciences from the United Kingdom.
- Applicants must have submitted an admissions application to the University of Edinburgh in order to access the scholarship application portal. Be aware that it may take up to five working days after an application for admission has been submitted for all system checks to be finished and access to be granted.
- Submit your application for the MSc program, along with your references, personal statement, and statement of skills.
- Utilize the scholarship portal to submit your application for the scholarship. In order to do this, you must explain what Nyerere’s legacy means to you and how it relates to your aspirations for the future.
- Your scholarship application will be evaluated based on the references you provide to the program for Africa and International Development. By the scholarship deadline, make sure these are posted to your application.
Through MyEd, you can access the online scholarship application form, which is housed in EUCLID.
