For the Waislitz Global Citizen Awards 2023, applications are now being accepted. The Waislitz Global Citizen Awards are yearly cash prizes for a total of $250,000 that honor people for their outstanding efforts to alleviate extreme poverty. The Waislitz Foundation, Global Citizen, Mesoblast Ltd., and Unico Capital Holdings, two of the top manufacturers of cellular therapeutics with headquarters in the US and Australia, jointly deliver the prizes.
“It is our duty to eradicate extreme poverty; it is not a choice. Alex Waislitz, Chairman and Founder of the Melbourne-based Waislitz Foundation, expressed his hope that it will motivate thousands of individuals all around the world to take whatever action they can to raise the standard of living for those who are most in need.
The Waislitz foundation’s mission is to encourage people to realize their full potential and make a tangible effect on the world through creative projects that have a positive social impact both locally and globally.
Awards
The three awards totaling $250,000 are part of the 2023 Waislitz Global Citizen Awards.
- Waislitz Global Citizen Award (Grand Prize): $100,000
- The Waislitz Global Citizen Disruptor Award is worth $75,000.
- The Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award is worth $75,000.
- The three winners will get monetary awards as well as editorial pieces that will be published on the Global Citizen website and social media.
Eligibility
- They accept applications from anyone performing impactful work and who has a registered legal company, such as a non-profit, for-profit, B-corp, social enterprise, etc. Participants must be at least 18 years old; they may be from anywhere in the world.
- The prizes must be requested by the candidates themselves.
Evaluation Standards
Each applicant will be judged according to their own merit in the following five crucial areas:
- How does the candidate reflect and embody the principles and behaviors of a global citizen?
- Does the applicant have a solid proof of concept that has had an impact on eradicating extreme poverty for at least one to two years?
IMPACT: Has the applicant made a discernible difference in a novel way that upsets the institutions that support extreme poverty?
SCALABILITY: In what ways would this prize help the applicant expand upon or enhance their work?
ADAPTABILITY: Can the applicant provide examples of how they have evolved and adapted to new circumstances?
