Applications Are Invited For A Grant Through The Water and Development Partnership Program (Grant; Euros 400,000)

Deadline: May 22, 2023 | Institute for Water Education in Delft, N.L | Amount of Grant: 400000 Euros

About the Organization

Every region of the world faces significant challenges related to water. Too many people continue to lack access to clean water and toilets. Their health suffers as a result, and affluence is still out of their reach, making their lives tough. As a result of climate change, droughts and floods are becoming more frequent and severe. We strive to change this at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. Our goal is to create a society devoid of poverty and injustice where individuals are able to sustainably and fairly manage their water and natural resources.

Regarding the Grant

Today, the Water and Development Partnership Programme opened up submissions from all low- and middle-income nations outside of Europe. Ten projects will be chosen, each with a budget of up to 400,000 euros and a 3.5-year working period.

This request will give projects that:

  • Are headed by women or by partners who are not affiliated with IHE Delft
  • Invest in expanding access to education
  • In one or more of the following theme areas, work to address concerns relating to injustices and ecological degradation in water-related developments:
Health and Water –

This issue is concerned with creating workable solutions to enhance and upscale the delivery of adequate, cheap, and inclusive water and sanitation services, particularly to disadvantaged people and/or rural areas. Proposals that address issues with home water supply and/or bulk water supply will be given preference.

Food and Water:

This issue focuses on creating workable routes to irrigation practices and agro-ecosystems that are more sustainable, equitable, and climate change-resistant in order to support the livelihoods of actors involved in small- and medium-scale agriculture and to preserve biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Deltas and River Basins

This issue focuses on creating workable solutions for the governance and management of (transboundary) river basins and delta regions, including coastal areas and aquifers, that are more safe, egalitarian, and environmentally sound. Proposals that address flooding-related issues and/or encourage changes in the governance and management of river basins and/or delta regions will be given preference.

The program imagines a society in which disadvantaged knowledges, inclusive and varied relationships, and water-related practices are transformed. In order to do this, the program finances audacious, innovative, and transdisciplinary projects that integrate research, education, and capacity-building initiatives with the goal of fostering a world that is peaceful, just, and sustainable.

The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a supporter of the Water and Development Partnership Programme 2022-2027.
