With the potential for sustainability, scalability, and widespread replication, the AU Innovating Education in Africa Call welcomes innovators to submit fresh and useful educational solutions. In order to address difficulties with education and skill development in Africa, especially as nations exit COVID-19, AU IEA is trying to engage continental education innovators.

Eligibility requirements
Citizens of AU Member States who are in a leadership position within an organization that satisfies the requirements below are eligible to apply.
- Successfully implementing an educational innovation with measurable results in one or more AU Member States. A product or service that is provided by a company that addresses issues in the educational system in a way that is relatively unique in the African environment is referred to as an education innovation.
- Having a valid business registration and license in an AU Member State.
- Directly accountable for the innovation’s implementation and administration, i.e., not serving as an intermediary.
Benefits for selected candidates
Those who apply successfully will gain from one or more of the following:
- Obtain funding of up to $100,000 USD to improve the integration of innovations with systems of public education while gathering proof of their efficacy.
- Promotion of innovation to African Union (AU) member states and development partners, including publishing in the Africa Education Innovations Handbook 2023.
- A certificate of appreciation from the African Union’s Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
- Partner Organizations’ Capacity Building for Innovators.
Application Method
The following information should be included in submissions submitted online in either English or French at https://tinyurl.com/mr29ffcc.
- A succinct description of the problem being solved (no more than 100 words).
- A 500-word description of the innovation, including information on how it works, how it will be implemented, and how it will be financed.
- A 500-word report on the innovation’s performance and results.
- Proof of business registration and an operating license.
Please take note that each business may only submit one innovation; failing to do so will result in disqualification. Previous recipients of funding through the IEA program are ineligible to apply.
Submissions must be received by 23:00 (GMT +3) on June 30, 2023.
