The 2023 Young Researchers Award nominations are now being accepted by the GBIF Secretariat. This annual initiative aims to encourage and reward graduate students whose master’s and doctoral studies rely on GBIF-mediated data for original research and discoveries in biodiversity informatics.

Two early-career researchers—ideally a master’s and a PhD candidate—will be awarded a pair of €5,000 prizes as part of the 2022 program if they are formally nominated by the heads of delegation and node managers of GBIF Participant countries.

Eligibility


To qualify for the award, candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program at a university.

Applicants must either be

  • citizens of a nation taking part in GBIF

or

  • Nominations may originate from the GBIF delegation or node of the candidate’s home country or the nation where the candidate is currently enrolled in school.
