The UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity 2023 is now accepting applications. Through the IFCD’s call for applications for 2023, UNESCO reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of the cultural and creative sectors in developing nations as crucial pillars for safeguarding and promoting cultural diversity, fostering innovation and creativity, and creating a more sustainable future.

The IFCD has committed more than $10 million since 2010 across 140 projects in 69 developing nations. These various initiatives have promoted access to new markets, the participation and inclusion of vulnerable groups in cultural life, the establishment and execution of cultural policies, the enhancement of professional training and cultural entrepreneurship, and access to new markets.

Funding

  • $100,000 USD is the maximum financing amount.

Eligibility

  • Government agencies and organizations from qualifying nations (developing nations that are Parties to the 2005 Convention).
  • NGOs from qualifying nations (developing nations, nations that are parties to the 2005 Convention)
  • international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) that are legally recognized in 2005 Convention Parties.

Potential Projects

The IFCD finances initiatives that result in structural change by:

  • the introduction and/or development of policies and strategies that directly impact the development, production, distribution, and accessibility of a range of cultural expressions, including cultural goods, services, and activities; the development of public sector and civil society organizations’ institutional and human resources, as deemed necessary to support vibrant local and regional cultural markets in developing nations.
