A second SESA Call for Entrepreneurs 2023 is currently accepting applications. Local small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) from Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Tanzania are invited to apply for the “2nd SESA Call for Entrepreneurs 2023” on behalf of the Smart Energy Solutions for Africa (SESA) consortium. With an emphasis on rural and off-grid regions, the call is searching for entrepreneurs with experience tackling the continent’s energy access concerns.

The SESA project, which is supported by the European Commission, operates in nine African nations with the help of national and international partners, testing and validating scalable sustainable energy solutions and business models that create local economic development prospects.
This appeal focuses on certain innovations that have been evaluated by SESA partners and offers good chances for local business owners in the four countries to build them up. Interested businesses should be active in areas like solar cold chain technology for peri-urban and rural communities, waste-to-energy solutions to increase clean cooking, and solar irrigation technologies for rural communities.
Benefits
- Through service agreements, each chosen business will receive between €50,000 and €100,000 for the planning, execution, and assessment of submitted replication projects.
- They will have the chance to take part in the SESA Incubator Program after being chosen by SESA partner Smart Innovation Norway (SIN). The program offers coaching, mentoring, and connections to networks of business leaders and possible investors.
Eligibility
- Your business must be legally established and conducting business in Tanzania, Namibia, Nigeria, or Rwanda;
- Your business must have been officially established for at least three years;
- The last two years (2022 and 2021)’s worth of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, must have been provided by your company.
- There are no ongoing legal disputes involving your company or the people on its management team;
- evidence of earlier work done in the country that is similar.

- Value for Money and Implementation Plan (30%)
