About WAYA
Under AGRA’s flagship VALUE4HER initiative, the Women Agripreneurs of the Year Awards (WAYA) were established in 2021 with the goal of enhancing women’s agribusiness in Africa. The Women Agripreneurs of the Year Awards (WAYA) honor African female agripreneurs who have distinguished themselves in the agricultural value chains and who have displayed remarkable innovation by making positive contributions to food security, climate resilience, women’s empowerment, and youth empowerment. The awards are intended to highlight accomplished women, promote them as admirable role models, spark innovation, and increase the aspirations of female agribusiness owners.

Benefits
- The winning agripreneurs will be announced at the 2023 AGRF Summit and will each receive a grant worth $85,000.
Eligibility
- Businesses must operate in the agriculture or agribusiness value chain,
- be registered as legal entities in an African Union member state,
- and be at least 51% owned and managed by one or more women who are citizens of one of the 55 African nations in order to qualify for the WAYA program.
- Until May 31, 2023, entries can be submitted online at this link.
Categories
- Applications are being accepted in three categories:
- Outstanding Value Adding Enterprise (for female-owned agribusinesses that are raising the economic value and/or consumer appeal of agricultural products);
- Young Female Agripreneur (for those under the age of 35 who have demonstrated innovation and leadership in business);
- and Female Ag-Tech Innovator (those championing technological advancement in agribusiness);
- and an Overall Grand Prize winner will be determined.

- Submit your entry to be judged.
