Conditions for Eligibility
- I’m an African national who is between the ages of 19 and 29.
- I will have my undergraduate degree by January 1, 2024, with outstanding grades (above 70% or upper-second class Honors), allowing me to enroll in postgraduate English courses. If you’re unsure, take this free assessment.

Financial assistance
The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship provides complete assistance for the essential expenses related to your academic pursuits.
It pays the cost of tuition for a one- or two-year Master’s degree in any discipline at an accredited South African institution of higher learning.
Tuition and registration fees, funding for books, research, and medical care, lodging and food, a personal allowance, and round-trip economy airfare from your home country to your South African university at the start and completion of your degree are all included.
A personal allowance will also be given to you.
Covered Cost
- Tuition and other costs determined by your university or other organization
- A grant for study materials determined by the mrf
- Meals and lodging expenses as determined by the mrf
- A medical assistance payment established by the mrf
- A personal budget established by the mrf
- Grants for conferences and research can be obtained upon request.
- Flights in economy for visiting foreign academics from their home nations to their universities at the beginning and finish of their studies
How to Apply for Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship South Africa 2024
- To apply, go online. To access your application and upload your supporting materials, log into the application platform.
- You must sign in to the site in order for the three persons who will be writing your recommendations to upload their letters there as well.
- They need plenty of time to draft their letters, register on the platform, and upload them.
- Without the letters, you cannot submit your application and it won’t be taken into account.
Application:
All supporting materials for applications must be uploaded by the deadline of April 20.
Your application won’t be complete unless your recommenders’ (referees’) references are uploaded.
